Mr. Reuben Harris

Reuben Harris, either 63 or 51, was traveling aboard Lusitania with his wife Emma. They were British subjects. They would be visiting their daughter, Mrs. Taylor of 116, Long-lane, Halesowen, England. Mr. and Mrs. Harris had cabled their daughter on Sunday, 2 May 1915, that they would be traveling aboard Lusitania. Both Rueben and Emma were lost in the Lusitania sinking.

Reuben was a contractor and had been in Canada for four years, having worked in Calgary, Alberta, and Toronto, Ontario. Previously, he had been a well-known contractor in the Blackheath and Halesowen district.

  1. I am interested in the part of the story that mentions the cable. How is this known? Is it possible to obtain a copy of the cable?

    Hope to hear from you

    Thank you

    • Just read your comments with interest. Rueben Harris was my great grand father. I have collected a lot of knowledge but still much to learn. We should connect.
