Ella Lawrence, 50, was a British national from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. According to the New York Times, Ella was traveling aboard Lusitania with Mrs. Burke of New York (whose name does not appear on the passenger list). Both women had volunteered for service under the Serbian Red Cross. Ella was lost in the Lusitania sinking.
Per the list of interments at Queenstown (now Cobh), Ella Lawrence was body #145, age 50 years, grave #493.

I am archiving records relating to Ella Lawrence’s sister. Mrs. Burke was actually Mrs Mabel Bourke her travelling companion and they were in Stateroom 78. We have letter from one of cabin staff
who wrote to Ella’s sister to comment on how calmly and bravely they met their deaths. I see Mrs. Bourke is on the passenger list.
Mabel Bourke nee England trained at Charring Cross Hospital London circa 1880 and Metropolitan Hospital, she started her nursing taring at an early age and was known as “Baby England – later Fever Nurse at Liverpool Road Fever Hospital and later a midwife in the East End of London (Bethnal Green)
