John Harper, 55, was from Redditch, Worcestershire, England. He was a saloon passenger aboard Lusitania. His ticket number was 46160 and he stayed in cabin D-6. Harper was lost when the Lusitania was torpedoed and sunk on 7 May 1915. His body was either not recovered or not identified.
Harper was a dedicated member of Headless Cross Methodist Church in Redditch. After Harper’s death on the Lusitania, his wife dedicated a tablet for him in the church. The tablet reads:
IN EVER LOVING MEMORY
OF MY DEAR HUSBAND
JOHN HENRY HARPER
FORM MANY YEARS A DEVOTED
WORKER CONNECTED WITH THIS
CHURCH, WHO WAS CALLED HOME
FROM THE LUSITANIA
OFF THE COAST OF IRELAND
MAY 7TH 1915.
AGED 55 YEARS.
