Since the centennial, I’ve taken a little break to catch up on non-Lusitania matters, so please forgive the delay in site updates. A few more posts and updates are in the pipeline, but in the meantime, an announcement:
On 6 May 2015 a dinner was held at the Commodore Hotel in Cobh, formerly Queenstown, for relatives of passengers and crew of the final crossing of RMS Lusitania. These family members were also joined by members of the local community. As part of the evening’s presentation a short film was produced and shown by Jon Kiger, great-grandson of survivor Albert Byington. The film included two audio clips of accounts of survivors of the sinking: Ethel Lines and May Bird and a second hand account from Elizabeth Joseph – daughter of survivor Helen Smith. A limited number of DVD’s are available for sale by contacting Jon Kiger at jonkiger@mac.com. Price is US $20 or the equivalent via PayPal.
NOTE: This is the video that was shown at the beginning of the banquet. Video footage of the banquet itself and the speeches made there will be made available at a later date.
