Lifeboat 15 was one of the (if not the) last boats to be lowered, and was under the command of First Officer Arthur Rowland Jones. As the boat was leaving, it got tangled in the Marconi wires that threatened to drag the lifeboat down with the ship. Several people in the water hanging onto the sides were pulled into the boat, but eventually the boat became so crowded that those inside could only tell people to “hang on” while they looked for another boat to offload their burden. The lifeboat was picked up by the Manx fishing trawler, Wanderer (Peel 11). Some of the survivors were subsequently transferred to other rescue vessels.
At least 34 known of 80+ occupants in lifeboat 15. Italics indicate survivor.
