Peter Doyle, 32, was the brother of John Doyle, a fireman aboard Lusitania. Both brothers are known to have been born in County Wexford, Ireland, to Lawrence and Ann Doyle.
As of 1915, their mother Ann had already died and the family lived in Liverpool, England. Peter lived with his wife, Bridget Doyle (née Kelly), at 70, Dryden Street, Liverpool, England. The father, Lawrence, lived at 368, Vauxhall Road, Liverpool, where John presumably also lived.
Both brothers were lost in the sinking of the Lusitania.

These two Doyle brothers were my mother’s uncles. Their father Lawrence must have been living at the same address as that of my grandfather James Patrick Doyle. My mother nee Annie Doyle married my father Richard Hynes who lived next door to 368 Vauxhall Road. He was the sone of George Hynes, manager of Crosfields Mill which was right there in Vauxhall Road.
These two brothers were also my Fathers Uncles, my father was Lawrence Doyle who was the younger brother of Annie Doyle above.
I remember uncle Larry very well and in fact have kept a letter of his to me. I have a vague recollection of my mother saying she lost a brother on the Titanic but perhaps my boyhood memory is at fault and she was talking about those uncles of hers on the Lusitania. James Patrick Hynes
I am David Hynes, brother of James Patrick Hynes. Actors portrayed the two Doyle brothers in the tv film of the sinking of the Lusitania, when the boiler room exploded with the encroachment of the sea water into the boiler room , where the two men worked
I notice that an engineering crew member on the Titanic was indeed a Laurence Doyle, aged 27, a fireman trimmer. He is about the right age with the right first name to be another family member. Take little notice of the place of origin, Southampton, as everybody else is listed with that. It was probably the signing up port.
The twoDoyle brothers were my grandmother’s uncles. My grandmother was Monica Doyle (nee Shimka), the daughter of Annie Shimka (nee Doyle), and the granddaughter of Lawrence Doyle. My great-grandmother (Annie) lived at 368 Vauxhall Road, as did her husband (my great grandfather), Zigmund Shimka. I’ve just started researching our family history, and this is all very interesting!
Frank Hamilton – my name is lisa shimka.Zigmund Shimka was my great grandfather, and we used to call my Annie ‘nanna tapper’. I would love it if you could get in touch xxxx
Hi Lisa – we share the same great-grandparents! Would be great to get in touch. What’s the best way to do this? xxxx
My mother was Annie Doyle, daughter of James Patrick Doyle, her father and father of Paddy Doyle, Larry Doyle and Jimmy Doyle. Paddy was married to a woman, surname Pace and they ran a café in Price Street, near Paradise Street, Liverpool. Paddy is buried in Maghull. Larry went to live in Kirkby and some of his descendants are there. My mother’s sister Molly married Peter Curran and their descendants live in Liverpool. You can contact me on jp.hynes@btinternet.com
